Triggering renders from PHPv3.3.96
To trigger a Lambda render using PHP, install the remotion/lambda package using composer. Use the same version as the remotion version you are using from NPM and pin the version by removing the ^ character in your composer.json.
Below is a snippet showing how to initiate a render request and get its status. Note the following before continuing:
- You first need to complete the Lambda setup.
- Set the following environment variables - the example below supports
.envfiles:AWS_ACCESS_KEY_IDAWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEYREMOTION_APP_REGIONREMOTION_APP_FUNCTION_NAMEREMOTION_APP_SERVE_URL
render.php<?php use Aws\Credentials\CredentialProvider; // We'll assume you use Composer, which will add autoload.php require_once dirname(__DIR__) . '/vendor/autoload.php'; use Dotenv\Dotenv; use Remotion\LambdaPhp\PHPClient; use Remotion\LambdaPhp\RenderParams; // Load environment variables // Use "unsafe" because AWS reads environment variables from getenv(), not $_ENV $dotenv = Dotenv::createUnsafeImmutable(__DIR__); $dotenv->load(); // Specify the region you deployed to, for example "us-east-1" $region = getenv('REMOTION_APP_REGION'); // Specify the function you would like to call $functionName = getenv('REMOTION_APP_FUNCTION_NAME'); // Specify the URL to your Webpack bundle $serveUrl = getenv('REMOTION_APP_SERVE_URL'); $provider = CredentialProvider::defaultProvider(); // Instantiate the client $client = new PHPClient($region, $serveUrl, $functionName, $provider); // Initiate the param object and customize as needed $params = new RenderParams(); $params->setComposition('react-svg'); // Set input props $params->setInputProps(['message' => 'yo whats up']); // Execute the render and get the response $renderResponse = $client->renderMediaOnLambda($params); // Output render response print_r($renderResponse); // Get render progress $renderId = $renderResponse->renderId; $bucketName = $renderResponse->bucketName; $renderProgressResponse = $client->getRenderProgress($renderId, $bucketName); while (!$renderProgressResponse->done) { // Render is not done // Get the render progress $renderProgress = $renderProgressResponse->overallProgress; // Output render progress print_r("progress: " . ($renderProgress * 100) . "%\n"); // Wait 1 second sleep(1); // Get render progress again $renderProgressResponse = $client->getRenderProgress($renderId, $bucketName); } print_r("Render is done!\n");
Rendering an image sequencev4.0.535
Use renderFramesOnLambda() with RenderFramesParams. Images default to PNG; the options follow renderFramesOnLambda().
render-frames.phpuse Remotion\LambdaPhp\RenderFramesParams; $params = new RenderFramesParams( composition: 'main', frameRange: [0, 99], framesPerLambda: 20, outputPrefix: 'exports/my-sequence/', imageSequencePattern: 'element-[frame].[ext]', ); $renderResponse = $client->renderFramesOnLambda($params); print_r($renderResponse);
Poll getRenderProgress() until done or fatalErrorEncountered. framesUploaded reports uploaded frames, and outputSequence['manifestUrl'] points to the completed manifest. outputPrefix also accepts an array with bucketName, keyPrefix, and optional s3OutputProvider.
Rendering a stillv4.0.538
Use renderStillOnLambda() with RenderStillParams. The still is rendered in a single Lambda invocation, and the response contains the URL it was written to.
render-still.phpuse Remotion\LambdaPhp\RenderStillParams; $params = new RenderStillParams( composition: 'still-helloworld', data: ['message' => 'Hello from props!'], frame: 10, ); $stillResponse = $client->renderStillOnLambda($params); print_r($stillResponse->output);
imageFormat defaults to png; jpeg and webp are also supported. output is the URL of the rendered image, outKey is its key in the bucket, and sizeInBytes is its size.
Cancelling a renderv4.0.515
Enable cancellation before starting the render, then call cancelRenderOnLambda():
cancel-render.php$params = new RenderParams(enableCancellation: true); $params->setComposition('react-svg'); $renderResponse = $client->renderMediaOnLambda($params); $client->cancelRenderOnLambda( $renderResponse->renderId, $renderResponse->bucketName );
Verifying webhooksv4.0.538
If you set up a webhook with a secret, Remotion signs every request so you can confirm it was sent by Remotion and that the body was not modified. The PHP client ships WebhookSignature::validate(), the equivalent of validateWebhookSignature() in the JavaScript client.
Pass the webhook secret, the raw request body exactly as it was received, and the X-Remotion-Signature header. It throws if the request cannot be verified and returns nothing if it is authentic.
webhook.phpuse Remotion\LambdaPhp\WebhookSignature; $secret = getenv('REMOTION_WEBHOOK_SECRET'); $body = file_get_contents('php://input'); WebhookSignature::validate( $secret, $body, $_SERVER['HTTP_X_REMOTION_SIGNATURE'] ?? null ); // The request is authentic. Decode the body only now. $payload = json_decode($body, true); http_response_code(200);
Read the body first and verify before decoding it. The signature covers the exact bytes that were sent, so decoding and re-encoding the body can change whitespace and how numbers are serialized, which would make a genuine request fail the check. Pass the body as it arrived (file_get_contents('php://input')) rather than a decoded array.
Changelog
v4.0.15: The fields are now typed.->setInputProps()now works as intended, serializing the input props to JSON for you.v4.0.6: The response payload structure has changed. See the history of this page to see the previous structure.
